Top tier single-cultivar, first-harvest ceremonial matcha with unparalleled smoothness.

Description

Okumidori is our highest quality offering.  A celebration of matcha in its most authentic form. Crafted exclusively from first-harvest Ichibancha leaves of a single cultivar. Carefully stone-grounded, to deliver exceptional smoothness, a vibrant natural colour, and a refined flavour profile. Its gentle umami richness carries minimal bitterness, allowing the true character of the leaf to come out. Best enjoyed as a pure, whisked tea to fully appreciate its delicate complexity. Okumidori is for those who seek matcha at its very finest.

Ingredients

100% organic stone-ground Japanese green tea (Camellia sinensis). Single-cultivar, first-harvest Ichibancha Okumidori tencha from Uji, Kyoto. No additives, no preservatives, no sugar.

How to use

As pure tea (Usucha) – recommended: Sift 2g (approx. 2 chashaku scoops or ½ tsp) into a pre-warmed bowl. Add 70ml of water at 70–80°C. Whisk gently with a chasen in a W-motion until a fine, creamy froth appears. To fully appreciate its delicate, single-cultivar character, we recommend enjoying Okumidori without milk.

As Koicha (thick tea): For an intensely rich experience, use 4g of matcha with just 30ml of water at 70°C. Knead slowly with the chasen – do not whisk – until a thick, glossy paste forms.

How to store

Store Okumidori matcha in a cool, dark and dry place. Keep sealed and away from strong odours. Once opened, reseal tightly and consume within 4–6 weeks for optimal freshness. Refrigeration is recommended after opening, but allow the tin to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation.
